About Me
I am a first-year Human-Centered Computing (HCC) Ph.D. student and a research assistant at the Cybersecure Behavior Lab at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County under the supervision of Dr. Ida Ngambeki. My research interests include: Securing and Encrypting Web Designs for the best and safest User Experience (UX), safer human-computer interaction in my field of academic major: HCC, and how to make people, the elderly and children in particular, aware and safer from Cyber and Social Engineering Attacks on various devices. I received IBM’s notable Neuro-Symbolic AI badge and would like to share the ways people could learn more about Cybersecurity from IBM’s online courses, and practice safe behavior by following the safety tips and research works on Cyber Secure Behavior Lab. I am also a member of the Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) community.
I earned a Masters of Professional Studies (M.P.S.) in Health Information Technology in 2020 and learned about HIPAA federal laws, its Privacy and Security Rules, and Ethics around Personally Identifiable Health Information or PHI. As I am a coder and coded this website using skills learned from SheCodes, I would like to code HIPAA-compliant websites and apps in the future that are similar to MyChart Portals and Epic- the largest healthcare software, which made me fall in love with cybersecurity, secure UX designs, and using a human-centered approach when designing or coding websites so people know what to click and what to avoid. People need to be more aware of PHI and how to protect it both online and in person, especially in the times of AI
